I used a notebook with my quiet time for years but generally did go back to it during the day to remind myself of what I had learned. I also wished I could quickly look things up from past days. I tried different notebooking methods and writting in Notes on iPad to try to make searching easier. Each time I found I was spending time crafting the note taking my focus off seeking God and learning from scripture.
I struggled finding an app that could be my quiet time notebook. Most apps I found were devotional apps not notebook apps built for quiet times so I decided to write the app myself.
A quiet time is simply where you take time during your day to stop and spend time with God. God is interested in having a personal relationhip with us, not in having us follow some formula or specific procedure.
The steps below are common things people do during their quiet time (not a required formula). In general relationships are built upon communicating (prayer) and learning about the other person (Bible study).
Pray - Praise God, Ask Him to teach you through His Word
Read - Read a section, a chapter, multiple chapters of scripture, or follow a devotional. Look for who God is - the Bible is the story of God’s amazing love for us.
Pray - Praise God for who He is and what you have learned, pray for others and ask for things you need (prayer requests), be honest with God about the things you have coming up
Meditate - Thing about/look back at what you’ve learned throughout the day, continue to talk to God throughout the day
Not sure where to start reading? Try one of these:
Check out the reading plans in the Bible app
Try The Bible Recap. It combines a reading plan with a summary podcast. It's built to read the Bible in a year but since it is a podcast, you can move at your own pace.
Jump into the Book of Luke. Try a chapter a day.
Today tab: tab the "Add New Note" button or click the "+" button in the top right corner.
All Notes tab: tab the "+" button in the top right corner.
The app scans the scripture you paste or type into the scripture field as soon as you move onto another field or save the note. First it looks for a Bible book reference with a chapter number and then looks for a verse number or range. If a scripture reference is found, the note is tagged with that reference.
Email support@walkdaily.net with the complete scripture reference that did not get tagged correctly.
To delete: swipe right on the note or prayer to reveal a delete button. Continuing the swipe will also delete the note or prayer.
To pin: swipe left on the note or prayer to reveal a pin button. Continuing the swipe will also pin the note or prayer to the top.
For Mac users: swipe using 2 fingers on a trackpad (not clicking). An edit button is planned to be added in a future update to allow multiple items to be deleted/pinned simultaneously and to enable mouse only users to delete/pin notes.
Tap in the empty prayer field and type in the prayer request. Once done click "done" on the keyboard.
Click the "i" button in next to the prayer to pull up the prayer detail screen. Tapping on a day of the week will toggle it off or on to show up in Today tab and in the prayer home screen widget.
Tap the open circle on the left side of the prayer to mark it as answered. If you are inside of the detail screen for a prayer simply tap the toggle.
Pinned items always appear on top. Items appear in the order they were written inside of the Today tab (oldest on top - following the order of your quiet time). Items appear with the most recent on top in the All Notes and Prayers tabs.
God is perfectly good, completely in control, and always faithful. God's faithfuliness is demonstrated in all things at all times, including the things we are praying for. Since God is our loving father who is in total control, He gives us exactly what we need when we need it. Sometimes this looks like what we want and other times it doesn't but in hindsight it is evident how the answer is God being faitful to us. Sometimes we will see this immediately afterwards and other times it might take years but every answered prayer is a demonstration of God's faithfuliness.
There is a place in the prayer detail screen for recording the story of how God demonstrated His faithfuliness. Try putting recording details of what is happening with the prayer request over time (not just at the end).
Go into the settings tab and change the Rollover Time from 12a to 6pm.
On the Settings tab you can choose the background image. You can also upload your own image to use.
Definitely! On the Settings tab choose "Upload Background Image." Landscape (horizontal) images work better than portrait (vertical) images.
Toggling this on puts a paste button in the "scripture" field when creating a Bible study note. You can copy a passage in a Bible app and then paste quickly in the app. Once the scripture field has text in it the paste button disappears.
You don't have to fill out all sections each time. Some passages don't lend themselves to sections you have set up for your Bible notes. No worries, sections you leave blank will be hidden when viewing that note.
Go to the Settings tab and choose "Bible Study Notes Section Labels." You can have up to 5 sections that you can edit the title of of in addition to the scripture section.
Hold down anywhere on the home screen to enter edit mode (apps will jiggle). Click the "+" button in the top left corner and search (or scroll to) Walk Daily. Select Walk Daily and pick the widget you would like. You can add more than 1 widget by going back through the steps (ex: have both a Bible notes widget and a prayer widget active).
Go into the Settings tab and select the Refresh Widget Data button.
